A long gradual climb takes me from the coast to the high plateau of the North York Moors. In the distance I can see a large stone cross between the multicolored heath. According to tradition, Ralph’s Cross was erected by a farmer who was moved by the fate of a lost traveler that had died of starvation on the top of the plateau. I avoid the same fate by munching on energy bars at the summit. Enjoy the beautiful view.
