Over the course of millions of years a river has carved a valley through the ” moors ” in The Peak District. While I’m cycling I barely notice how time flies because of the arresting landscape. Suddenly a green gorge opens in front of me. It is as if I’m being sucked in by it. Was this pass created by turbulent winds? The road is narrow and steep and begins at the bottom of a ravine. Ascending through the overgrown peaks, I conquer acre by acre. My muscles burn. On the verge of total collapse, I reach the summit and begin the long descent.
